About

rebel breed signatureMaking new things, making old things new again.

Rebel Breed is a Leicester-based writing company, founded and run by William Breden and James D. Ward. We work in collaboration with a range of artists and performers to produce work for stagescreen, and sound.

Our first theatrical project is Nando’s and Nandon’ts: A Musical, which appears in Dave’s Leicester Comedy Festival, February 2014.  For more information, visit its page.

Our film projects, including short films and a webseries, are currently in development, and are expected to launch mid-2014.

Rebel Breed Radio is our podcast, launched in January 2014. The lineup features a number of shows, incorporating a relaunched Culture Corner, readings, radio plays, and more. You can find our podcast on iTunes – just search for Rebel Breed Radio.

William Breden

William Breden

William Breden is one half of the mighty Rebel Breed and writes, directs and basically organises anything that needs doing. He has a number of exciting theatre and film projects in the pipeline and a shady past in theatre all over the country.

He writes primarily for stage and has produced performances at the Leicester Comedy Festival and upcoming at the Edinburgh Fringe. He wrote for a number of years for the online magazine Eyebrow and has also written features for the Leicester Mercury.

If pressed he also admits to occasional poetry, where he has been published online and in print. He is a part time student at De Montfort University and a full time herder of cats.  He is fond of ridiculous stage directions.
